student_of_impossibility | [OOC] Timeline: Codex Alera

This is derived from canon information wherever possible. Note that canon is occasionally inconsistent, so a few liberties were taken. Anything with a * is 'we are told this happened/logic dictates this should have happened around this time, but it is unclear.' Especially with pre-First Calderon dates, assume that the exact year may vary based on actual months; this is just an estimated rough sketch. For pre-First Calderon birth dates, the unstarred ones are still approximations, with more firm basis in canon (I.E., Antillus Raucus is apparently 54 or so in Princeps' Fury).

Seasons are provided where possible. Of note is that we have no freaking clue how Alerans count years--by emperor, date from founding of Realm, what have you. I am operating under assumption that at some point a standard 'Anno Regni' (entirely to avoid an Anno Imperii abbreviated as A.I. because my brain can only take so much) count was implemented, accurate to within some degree of reasonableness. Also, we hear about a holiday called 'Wintersend' which seems to actually correlate to the start of spring, so I am positing that they count years from spring.

Note: Sextus gets several conflicting reports on age; Amara's is never given well; Bernard we only know is the middle child. So those three are highly suspect, beyond Sextus probably being no younger but possibly older than age given current date

c. 929: Gaius Sextus is born (personal headcanon: July 12 or 13)
c. 932: [Gaius Sextus' first wife] is born
c. 939: *Cereus Macius and Astoris Magnus are born*
c. 950: *Fidelias is born*
c. 956: *Gaius Sextus marries*
c. 957: *Gaius Sextus becomes First Lord*

Battle of Seven Hills: Assassination attempt on Septimus, Crown Legion takes heavy losses
The Duel in Alera Imperia: Araris injures Miles, duels Aldrick; Aldrick dishonorably dismissed and leaves with Odiana
Sextus sends Septimus and the Crown Legion to Calderon Valley to recuperate, dismissing some of Septimus' fears
Late fall: Isana and Septimus meet.

988: Late summer (harvest moon): Septimus proposes to and marries Isana (personal headcanon: September 23rd)
989: Summer: First Calderon - Gaius Septimus is murdered, Gaius Octavian is born (personal headcanon: August 1st)
990: *Antillus Raucus marries Kalarus Dorotea*
991: *Bernard returns to Calderon, founds Bernardholt*
992: Antillus Crassus is born; Max's mother is murdered
994?: Bernard marries Cassea
996?: *Amara rescues some kids during fires in Alera Imperia; Sextus notices her, Fidelias begins training her*
999: Max (12) comes into his furies; Blight in Calderon kills Cassea and 2 daughters, probably leaves Amara infertile, also when she went to the Academy?
1001: Max runs off to join the Legions (Third Antillan)
1004: Mid/late autumn, probably October-early November: Furies of Calderon (Tavi - 15)
1005: Tavi, Max, and Ehren begin classes at the Academy
1006:

Late autumn/early winter: Kitai leaves Calderon to track the Vord Queen and stand Watch
Wintersend: Academ's Fury (Tavi - 17)

1008: Late fall: Tavi joins Astoris Magnus in the ruins of Appia

Late winter: *Canim attempt to assassinate Tavi; Araris joins the First Aleran to stand guard*

1010: *Tavi begins a counteroffensive which starts driving the Canim back inch by inch*

mid/late-summer: Octavian (now 23) departs for Canea
This winter sets in early and thaws late
Late fall/very start of winter: Princeps' Fury - Canea falls, Gaius Sextus dies at the fall of Alera Imperia

1013: Early spring, after the northern thaw: First Lord’s Fury
